Clean The Water Body Before It Pollutes Your Body
Am I the only one contemplating water pollution, which is contaminating our lifeline to survival? No, a vast majority have been contemplating about this issue and believe that water pollution has a bad effect on us and the place we live, which is our habitat. Nowadays, as the humanitarian crisis is at a peak, global warming is increasing severely.
What is Water Pollution?
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities. Water bodies include for example lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifers, and groundwater. Water pollution happens when contaminants are introduced into the natural environment. Such forms of pollution can be divided into three groups, namely, groundwater pollution, surface water pollution, and ocean water pollution.
Types of Water Pollution?
Groundwater pollution can be caused by unthreatened waste discharge, which can lead to diseases such as skin lesions, bloody diarrhoea, and dermatitis. This is common in locations with limited wastewater treatment infrastructure or where there are systematic failures of other sewage disposals. Surface water pollution is the pollution of aquatic systems that are above ground, such as streams, lakes, and rivers. Such waters become polluted when rainwater run-off carries pollutants into the water. The pollutants are transported by salts & chemicals in the city highway roads and nutrients and fertilizers on/from farms. Ocean pollution occurs when substances are either used or spread by humans, such as industrial, agricultural, and residential waste, particles, noise, and excess carbon dioxide, and when invasive organisms enter the ocean and cause harmful effects.
Types of Water Contamination?
There are four common forms of water contamination, which are agricultural, Radioactive, oil spills, and sewage. The agricultural sector is the biggest consumer of global freshwater resources, with farming and livestock production using about 70 percent of the earth’s surface water supplies. However, it is also a serious water pollutant. This means that around the world, agriculture is the leading cause of water degradation. Pesticides and fertilisers used in agriculture may also contaminate both surface and groundwater, such as organic livestock wastes, antibiotics, silage effluents, and processing waste from plantation crops. Such polluted water is contaminating our lifeline to survival.
Above all, the contamination of clean drinking water sources by sewage waste can be a result of raw sewage overflow, septic tanks leaking sewer lines, land application of sludge and partially treated wastewater sewage. Radioactivity is the phenomenon of spontaneous emission of particles or waves from the unstable nuclei of some elements. At times, Magma also releases radioactive gasses into the environment. Oil spills release liquid petroleum hydrocarbons into the environment, especially the marine ecosystem, due to human activities. Such activities pollute our water which is also a lifeline for marine organisms and ultimately us humans.
Conclusion
Generally speaking, the types of water pollutants mentioned above are having a detrimental effect and are contaminating our lifeline to survival in many ways. This issue should be controlled and addressed by each and every living person on this planet earth.
