The Magic of Pasteurisation
French industries continued to produce their packaged and non-packaged food in a way that didn't last long as how they do now. And the people in France kept consuming them with no second thought whatsoever. In 1863, the emperor of France, Napoleon Ill, requested Louis Pasteur's assistance for the contamination of wine the people consumed, making them very ill. After the emperor's request, Pasteur dedicated himself to finding a suitable solution. He spent hours trying to find a better solution. Finally, he found that there was a way to decontaminate the wine rather than shut the wine industry down. Today industries around the world use this very same technique that Louis Pasteur discovered in the products they produce.
It was a fine morning. I was out waiting in the sitting room to eat breakfast with my family. Finally, my mom brought the breakfast to the dining table, and it was milk and cereal. Milk is something which is commonly liked among other people, but I have never been a fan. We all know that milk mainly comes from animals such as cows but have you ever wondered how we are drinking it without getting food poisoned? And what if I told you there is a special process followed? The process is called pasteurisation.
Pasteurisation is a process in which both packaged and non-packaged foods are treated with mild heat to eliminate pathogens and extend shelf life. In other words, it is used to make both packaged and non-packaged foods safe for one to intake without any harmful interruptions and to extend their shelf life.
The French scientist Louis Pasteur, in the 1860s, demonstrated abnormal fermentation with wine and beer in just minutes. A well-known French inventor who was one of the most important founders of medical microbiology, Louis Pasteur, invented the process of pasteurisation. In the 1860s, he demonstrated an abnormal fermentation with wine in beer in just minutes. Today it is known as pasteurisation. This process is also known for saving the beer and wine industry in France.
As babies, our parents fed us with milk as a primary source. Milk has many benefits and has played a vital role in our health. When raw milk is pasteurised, it changes the milk’s quality and taste. The process followed is very simple. First, heat the milk to 71.7°C for at least 15 seconds. Once it is heated, it is cooled very quickly to less than 3°C. However, the temperature setting would vary depending on the certain substance.
This brilliant discovery found by the French scientist has brought a huge change to our generation of food. Saved us from harmful bacteria entering our fragile bodies. Extended the shelf life of food and stopped the quick expiration. Without this discovery, our generation would not be able to store food for a long period of time nor to safely intake it. This is why it is one of the most important discoveries discovered by men.
